Nominations for the Microbiology Society 2023 Microbiology Outreach Prize, 2024 Prize Lectures and 2025 Prize Medal are now open

All our members are welcome to submit a nomination for consideration by the Prize Award Panel and we also welcome nominations from groups of members. Nominees themselves don’t have to be members and as an international organisation and one that recognises the diverse and inclusive excellence in the field of microbiology, we welcome members to consider the full breadth of the field when making nominations to ensure they reflect the full diversity of the microbiology community. 

We want to ensure that as many of our members’ views are reflected in the decision of who will be our Prize winners. This is a fantastic opportunity to build networks with other microbiologists and gain some reviewing experience. The opportunity is available to all members regardless of your background, location or career stage – your opinion is important!

To nominate someone for a Prize Lecture, please visit the relevant Prize Lecture page to find out more about its remit, judging criteria and past winners of the Prize. Members may also download the nomination form on the same page. We recommend that members contact the person they would like to nominate and work alongside them to complete the nomination form. We have provided example nomination forms from previous winners to demonstrate the level of detail required for nominations.

Nominations for our 2024 Prize Lectures and 2025 Prize Medal will remain open until Thursday 26 May 2023.

Want to be involved in the awarding process? Get involved in the 2023 Prize Award Panel

The Panel will discuss all nominations received before presenting a shortlist for the Prize Medal and a recommendation for all other Prize winners to Council for endorsement when they meet in September.

To express an interest in participating, please contact [email protected] with your name, job title, affiliation, area of expertise and brief summary of your suitability as a member of the Panel (no more than 250 words) by 24 March 2023. 

The Panel will convene to review nominations on 27 June 2023 – 12pm–2pm. Prospective panel members should ensure they are available to attend this meeting.
